Oats                                       2 cups

Toor dal                               ½ cup

Chana dal                           ¼ cup

Urad dal                              ¼ cup

Red chilly                            5

Salt                                         as required

Hing                                       liberal pinch

Curry leaf                            2 strips

Coriander leaf                  as you wish

Scrapped coconut         ¼ cup

Cooking oil                        as required for preparing adai


  • Soak the dals for 1 ½ hours and grind coarse with salt, red chilly and hing.
  • Powder oats and add to dough.
  • Chop curry leaves and coriander leaves and add to dough.
  • Add scrapped coconut, add good enough water and mix the dough well.
  • Prepare like normal adais.
