quick upma


Roasted Rava     1 cup

Ginger                     1 small piece

Green chilly         3

Curry leaf             1 strip

Hing                        liberal pinch

Salt                         as required

Mustard               ½ spoon

Urad dal              ½ spoon

Cooking oil        2 tbsp

Lemon                  ½

Cashew                5 (optional)


  • Heat oil in pan, add mustard, urad dal, hing, curry leaves, cut pieces of ginger and green chilies.
  • Once it is golden, add required water, add salt and allow it to boil by closing with a lid.
  • Once it starts boiling, add roasted rava and stop when it is semisolid.
  • Stir well and lower the flame and allow it to cook well.
  • Once it is fully cooked, stir well, switch off burner, add lime extract, cashews(optional) and serve.
