OMA KUZHAMBU
As we all know, omam(ajwain) is very good for health right from children to people of any age.
For any stomach disorders, omam boiled in water, gives a great relief.
This dish is made with omam, but as a kuzhambu , very tasty and can be taken with white rice, or paruppu sadam with oma kuzhambu as side dish.
ITEMS REQUIRED:
Omam-2 spoons
Tamarind-gooseberry size
Salt-as required
Chilly powder-1 spoon
Curry leaf-1 strip
Jaggery(vellam)-little
For tempering:
Gingelly oil-3 tbsp
Mustard-little
Red chilly-1
Hing-small pinch
Methi seed-little
Channa dal-1/2 spoon
METHOD:
- Soak tamarind and extract juice , add salt , vellam and allow to dissolve.
- Heat oil in kadai, add tempering items, chilly powder and curry leaves.
- Just sauté once and add tamarind juice mixture and allow to boil well.
- Fry omam in gingelly oil in another pan and transfer to boiling contents.
- Switch off once it is boiled fully and becomes a bit thick (kuzhambu consistency).
