ALOO POHA TIKKI
Tikki, as we all know, is the best choice snack item prepared with very less oil since it is shallow fried in non stick pan. This recipe is by my daughter, who is very conscious about usage of oil in dishes. She has prepared this dish with nil oil, but I have used 1 spoon for 6 pieces. You can decide your own. This is almost similar to aloo tikki, which is already posted in my blog. Anyway, a small change makes the dish very interesting and gives a different taste and aroma. This is one such, I am happy to share the same with you all.
ITEMS REQUIRED:
Potato 1 BIG
POHA(aval) 1 cup
Ginger small piece
Green chilly 3+chilli powder(adjust according to your taste)
Coriander leaf little
Salt as required
Lemon ½ if big (1 if small)
Besan(kadalai mavu) 2 spoons
Cooking oil as required for shallow frying tikkis
METHOD:
- Cook potatoes, peel off skin and mash well.(my daughter has scrapped after cooking).
- Wash and soak poha in just sufficient water for 2 to 5 minutes (decide the time according to the quality of poha).
- Wash and chop ginger, green chilies and coriander leaves.
- Squeeze the lemon and extract juice.
- Mix all items(except oil) well to form a fine dough.
- Make balls as shown in pic.
- Flatten them like vada and shallow fry in non stick pan using oil as per your wish.
- Fry both sides to golden and take out.
- Excellent snack is ready.
