PULIYOTHARAI
Items required:
For making powder:
- Red chilli 8
- Channa dal 2 spoons
- Dhania 2 spoons
- Fenugreek seeds small pinch(1/4 spoon)
For preparation:
- Rice 3 cups
- Gingelly oil 1 big cup
- Mustard seeds ½ spoon
- Channa dal 1 spoon
- Asafotida ½ spoon
- Red chilli 2 or 3
- Curry leaves 10
- Tamarind juice 2 cups made with ball size lemon
- Turmeric powder ½ spoon
- Salt as required
Method:
- Cook the rice and spread in a broad bowl.
- Fry items under “making powder” in little oil and powder rough (not v fine)
- Heat gingelly oil in pan and add items mentioned under that one by one and finally the powder
- Allow to boil till thick paste , mix with rice & serve.
Can we use pepper (blackpepper) powder also ?
What about asafoetida (perungayam) ?
