KOVAKKAI (TINDORA) THOGAYAL

ITEMS REQUIRED:

Kovakkai                                              10

Urad dal                                               1 ½ spoons

Channa dal                                          1 ½ spoons

Sundrop oil                                         2 spoons

Red chilly                                             4

Salt                                                          as required

Hing                                                         small pinch

Tamarind                                             tamarind seed size

METHOD:

Cut kovakkai into small round pieces.  Heat little oil in kadai, fry urad dal, channa dal & red chilly to golden colour.  Transfer to a plate, pour remaining oil and add kovakkai to it. Sauté well and sprinkle little water and close with lid.  Switch off once it is done and allow to warm up. Grind fried items with salt, tamarind and hing adding water only to required level.
