INSTANT VEGETABLE KOOTU

for instant kootu powder:

ITEMS REQUIRED:

Toor dal                                1 cup

Moong dal                           ½ cup

Urad dal                               ¼ cup

Cooking oil                          ½ spoon

Pepper                                    2 spoons

Red chilli powder             ¼ cup

METHOD:

  • Roast  the dals in ¼ spoon of oil and allow to warm up.
  • Roast pepper lightly.
  • Powder all together nicely, mix chilly powder, sieve and store in airtight container.

KOOTU PREPARATION

ITEMS REQUIRED:

  • Any single or mixed vegetables                 2 cups
  • (I have taken chow chow-2 nos, carrot-1, potato-1 small).
  • Salt                                                                               as required
  • Turmeric powder                                                  pinch
  • Kootu powder                                                         3 to 4 spoons

For tempering:

  • Coconut oil                                                               1 spoon
  • Mustard,  urad dal and curry leaf               little of each

METHOD:

  • Peel off skin of vegetables and cut into small pieces.
  • Wash and transfer to cooker.
  • Add salt, turmeric powder, kootu powder  and  cook for 2 to 3 whistles.
  • Once you are able to open the cooker,  temper with items mentioned.
